NAME: Sunki Tipponi ~ Service Animal
DIAGNOSIS: Sunki got accidentally stepped on his head while running underfoot and is now in full stasis.
OWNER: Casper Dunning
Owner Can Contribute: $100.00
AMOUNT NEEDED: Unknown at this point

Sunki is probably the first rabbit to actually be authorized by a doctor to be a service animal. Because of this, Casper is beside himself with grief over the terrible accident. As hard as Casper tried to avoid stepping on Sunki, Sunki was just too quick and got underfoot. Sunki is at the vet's now but we do not know the extent of the trauma.  I am waiting to hear from the vet.

We do need emergency donations. Can you please help this precious bunny get back to work?

Donations can be made to paypal to the following account: sequiaphil@yahoo.ca

Thank you in advance for your gracious gifts.

I have been praying very hard for Sunki since I read about his accident on bunspace. We belong to some of the same groups on bunspace and know how very loved he is.  This bunny is the most important bun to help out.  His daddy loves and depends on him for emotional support.

I have donated some to help out.

I'm Sunki's grandma and wanted to tell you a little bit about how he helps his daddy.  My son has Aspergers Syndrome which is highly functioning Autism.  He lives on his own with his bunnies but mostly takes Sunki with him when he goes out.  Casper is subject to panic attacks when there are problems and likes to have his bunny friend to hold and hug.  The two of them have gone many places together and have faced problems with people who don't believe that rabbits can be service animals.  They have educated people from transit drivers to Wal-Mart staff, that service animals need not be just dogs.  One thing that the two of them do faithfully is attend the repatriation ceremonies.  The Canadian Forces personel that have been killed on duty are flown back to Trenton and then brought by a car procession along the Highway of Heroes to the Coroners Office in Toronto.  There they have the repatriation ceremony.  Casper was an Air Cadet and likes the military, so Sunki is the mascot for 700 Squadron alumni.
As you can see, Sunki isn't an ordinary bunny, but tries to make his mark on the world to make it better for everyone.

We hope that Sunki makes a speedy recovery. We know how scarey stasis can be. Sending a donation and vibes.

I have just heard back from Sunki's grandma. Sunki has a jaw abcess and is being treated for that as well as the stasis. He is on motility meds, and critical care. Waiting to hear about pain meds and the vet.

Oh thank heaven!  I would never have thought a jaw abcess.  I know Casper will give him the best of care.

The long awaited results are in.
Yes Sunki is doing a little better tonight, although he is in his cage sulking right now after getting his meds. He did eat some pellets earlier tonight, and had two crasins. He is on Cisapride (motlility), Metacam (pain) and Novotrimel (anti-biotic) as well as Critical Care. If he's going to eat his pellets a little more regularly I might talk to the vet about ending the CC doses.

For the most part things are going in one end, but don't seem to be coming out the other end. He's been getting a quarter of a fresh papaya to munch on, he seems to like it.

Sunki has figured out a safe place to snooze, in his sonotube, although it's when he is running about that we ran into the problems.

He's getting the best care I can give him now, and if we are going to be out, and there is a chance we'll be out at the time he needs his meds, Sunki has his own cooler bag to put the refrigerated meds into so we can take them with us.

You are such a good daddy Casper. Try not to take Sunki too many place just yet. Let him rest for a while and get back to his old self.   Smiley

I am very glad that Sunki is at home and doing better. I am leaving Sunki's page here until I get the word from the vet that Sunki has completely healed.

In my past experiences with jaw abcesses, it is a long healing/treatment process but I am hoping that it was caught in time.

We are good for funding right now...we still have $320.00 available and the bill has been paid.

I want to thank everyone for their support that they have given to both Sunki and Casper. It never ceases to amaze me how well bunny lovers pull together to help a fellow bunny lover!

Casper, please keep blogging every day about Sunki. We need to hear from you and we do want to keep updated on his progress.

Sunki is finding new and interesting ways to avoid having to take his medicine. Today it's hiding in his sonotube tunnel, yesterday it was hiding in the very back corner of his cage.

Of course he can't hide for long, and once I've got him the meds are rather messy so it's all over his mouth and chin. He's gotten fed up with having me clean him up, so he grabs the napkin and refuses to let go of it.

So far so good, Sunki is still bouncing around, and getting into trouble so I know he is still feeling about the same. Right now he is flopped inside his tunnel, and it's not even time for meds yet.

When do you take Sunki back in for a follow up?
